Project goal
Wikwemikong Development Comission (WDC), the economic development arm of Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, is looking to invest in a biocarbon facility, aimed to be the first of its kind in Ontario to offer locally produced biocarbon to the province’s mining sector. The facility will address the need for the Greater Sudbury area’s metallurgical industry to decarbonize, using forest biomass as a primary feedstock, and thus also supporting the national forest sector by providing a new market for forest biomass.
CRIBE’s contribution is aimed towards supporting the engineering, environmental impact assessment and financial assessment feasibility studies needed to support an invest decision for the facility.
